Financial Services Clerk with Revenue and Accounts Receivable Focus
Permanent, Part-time We invite applications for the permanent, part-time position of Financial Services Clerk. Reporting to the District Administrator, this position is permanently based at the Cowichan Bay Waterworks District office located in the heart of the Cowichan Bay community. Cowichan Bay Waterworks District Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley, Cowichan Bay Waterworks District is an Improvement District incorporated under the “Water Act, 1939” and is governed by a 1946 Letters Patent, the Local Government Act and Community Charter. The District is committed to providing clean, safe water for all residents. The District serves approximately 3,000 residents and has approximately 1,100 water connections. The office is in the heart of the village community, overlooking the bay towards Mt. Tzouhalem and Salt Spring Island. Summary This position is responsible for performing a variety of financial support functions primarily relating to revenue and accounts receivable as well as providing reception, customer service and administrative support. The Financial Services Clerk is a member of a small team that is supportive and works towards creating a positive team environment. Qualifications & Requirements
Completion of Accounting certificate or diploma offered by public post-secondary educational institution; or other acceptable equivalent courses;
Experience with Vadim-iCity Municipal software considered an asset;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;
Minimum two-years experience in accounting/finance;
Good working knowledge of accounting principles and practices relating to billing and accounts receivable, including leaving and following an audit trail;
Accurate and efficient data entry skills in a detail oriented environment;
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate financial information, verbally and in writing;
Experience providing customer service;
Experience analyzing and interpreting financial information and performing adjustments;
Experience in the application of general financial and administrative policies and procedures;
Valid B.C. driver’s license;
Successful completion of security screening requirements, which may include a criminal records check and bonding.
Salary Range: $28 to $30 per hour Hours of Work: 18-21 hours per week during office hours between 9 am and 4 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week, excluding statutory holidays, with a ½ hour lunch break. Please note this part-time position also qualifies for benefits, including Extended Health and Dental and a matching RRSP plan after six months. Conditions of Employment
Cowichan Bay Waterworks District has a vaccination policy that defines the conditions and expectations for employees regarding vaccination against COVID-19 and other pandemic diseases.
