The Centre Foundation provides crucial funding to . The Events department of the Foundation is responsible for developing and executing fundraising events that generate approximately $10 million in gross revenue annually. The events include the Scotiabank Pro-Am for Alzheimer’s, The Brain Project, Golf Tournament, A Walk for the Ages and Bike for Brain Health. The role of this department includes the solicitation and fulfillment of all event corporate partnerships

Foundation is looking for a Chief, Events to drive the growth of the annual fundraising portfolio. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Chief, Events will oversee a team of staff that will design, support and execute signature and Foundation events. The Chief, Events is responsible for taking an active lead in the revenue and strategic direction of Foundation events, while managing a responsible cost ratio. The incumbent will manage in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines while building relationships and managing expectations of stakeholders. In addition, the Chief, Events is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, which focuses on developing strategy to collectively achieve the priorities of the entire Foundation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team of event professionals at various stages of their careers.
  • Develop and grow the corporate partnerships portfolio to maximize revenue.
  • Creatively determine and recommend ways to improve participant and committee engagement.
  • Find new and creative ways to bring a culture of donor centricity to all events to enhance donor engagement and fundraising.
  • Ensure strategic direction of the organization is represented and supported through events.
  • Manage resources to ensure proper support for all events, staff and volunteers.
  • Develop event strategies that raise revenue for funding requirements.
  • Develop and facilitate volunteer lead event committees as necessary.
  • Be accountable to the Board of Directors for reporting on event progress, financials and success on a quarterly basis.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Will gain the confidence and respect of the Foundation CEO, Senior Management Team, colleagues and donors as well as the clinicians and researchers, senior volunteers, affiliates and staff.
  • Team Participation: Will be an active and key contributor on a high-performing, collaborative, open and engaged Foundation management team.
  • Team Leadership: Will maintain a positive work culture and environment, providing stability and inspiration, and built strong working relationships with staff.
  • Innovation: Will introduce ideas for new event concepts and initiatives for the Foundation
  • Engagement: Will achieve increased engagement of both professional staff and volunteers in fundraising efforts resulting in increased net revenue in the events portfolio.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • A minimum of ten years of event management experience, with a majority in a fundraising setting including experience with managing signature and community partnered charity events. At least three to five years in a senior fundraising/events role
  • Solid knowledge of best practices in all aspects of event management including event strategy and execution, donor engagement and volunteer programs and follow-up.
  • A demonstrated ability to bring innovation to an events portfolio.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to manage staff and build a high performing team.
  • Proven effectiveness in securing and managing corporate sponsorships and relationships.
  • Excellent donor management experience, confidence building relationships and pitching new ideas to senior stakeholders. An exceptional communicator at all levels
  • Exceptional strategy development as well as project management/execution skills.
  • A solid understanding of the financials of running events. Experience developing and monitoring multi-year and annual revenue and expense budgets to ensure they meet the revenue targets of the Foundation.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team to develop Event collateral.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with volunteers.
  • Experience in managing expectations of a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven effectiveness in contract negotiations.
  • Successful completion of a university degree from an accredited educational institution.
