JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:

Based out of Fort St. John, Generation Engineering’s Site C Project (The Project) has
an immediate opening for students studying Civil/Geotechnical/Geological/Electrical/Mechanical
Engineer who would be interested in contributing their knowledge and developing their abilities
within the Site C Project’s (The Project) Resident Engineering Team (RE Team).
The Project includes a wide variety of Civil/Geotechnical/Geological/Electrical/Mechanical
Engineering related construction activities and is mindful students have limited
experience related to some of the upcoming construction works. is passionate about the
learning opportunity the Site C Project represents to its RE Team members, with resources in
place to surround developing members with experienced engineering leadership to promote
individual development and act as a springboard for career development.
The successful candidate will play an integral part acting on behalf of the Engineer-of-Record in
the field, verifying the compliance of contractor constructed works in conformance with contract
documents, including scope, quality and schedule.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each contract’s scope/specifications/Issued for Construction
Drawings and contractor prepared drawings/submittals, providing oversight on behalf of the BC
Hydro’s Engineer-of-Record, to ensure each contractor’s work activities are completed in
conformance with the design/approved work methods.
  • Develop an understanding of construction methods/sequencing to assist with proactively
anticipating and identifying contractor interfaces and/or related construction risks;
  • Preparation of daily/weekly construction progress reports;
  • Assist with site visits for Project stakeholders;
  • Assist with the development and delivery of presentations to Project stakeholders;

At the end of the co-op term, the students will have excellent first-hand knowledge of the multi-
disciplined, fast paced, large hydropower construction.

Qualifications:
  • To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be enrolled in the Co-op Program and have yet to
graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada.
  • Completed a minimum of 2nd year of civil, geotechnical, geological, electrical or mechanical
engineering studies at an accredited university.
  • The candidate should be excited and interested in gaining hands-on field experience in a
number of 's key facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Excel and ability to work independently.
  • This position is based out of the Fort St. John, BC.
  • A driver's license that allows them to drive in BC is requiredClass 5 BC DL is required.

  • As a condition of employment at , a background check clearance will be required.
  • This position is based in Fort St. John.
  • All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity
to extend, to eight months.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.

Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
